Ukraine and European Neighbours: History and Modernity (for foreigners)

This certificate program is designed to provide a foreign (English-speaking) audience with general knowledge about Ukraine, including its political system, customs, traditions, historical milestones, and geographical features. The program combines this with a basic-level study of the Ukrainian language through three components: lexical, grammatical, and communicative, with a practical focus.

Target Audience:English-speaking individuals

Level of Education Required: basic secondary education

Programme objective - developing foreign students' knowledge about Ukraine, its main stages of history, geographical features, traditions and political system in the context of Europe; as well as basic language competences that will enable foreign students to meet communication needs in situations of daily communication related to everyday life, partly socio-cultural spheres of communication, enriching vocabulary, developing oral and written, monologue and dialogue speech, acquiring basic knowledge of practical grammar.

The programme consists of six thematic components:

  • Country and people. European neighbours. National symbols;
  • History. Kyivan Rus. Europe. Cossacks. Wars for independence;
  • Geography, climate and environment;
  • Identity. Family. Stereotypes. Religion. Urban/rural culture;
  • Sightseeing in Ukraine;
  • Economy and everyday life. Working life. Money: shopping. Life at war. Volunteering. Propaganda.

THE SCOPE OF THE PROGRAMME: 2 кредити  ЄКТС (60 годин)

TYPE OF STUDY: mixed, using distance learning technologies (ZOOM, Google Meet platforms)

Ukrainian culture (for foreigners)

This certificate program is designed to provide a foreign (English-speaking) audience with general knowledge about Ukraine, including its political system, customs, traditions, historical milestones, and geographical features.   • Holidays. Public and religious holidays. Independence Day. Ukrainian Defendant’s Day. St. Nicholas Day. Easter. Christmas;
  • Literature and Arts on war. Volunteering.

THE SCOPE OF THE PROGRAMME: 2 ECTS credits (60 hours)

Doctor of Philosophy is an education and the first academic research degree pursued on the third level of higher education based on a Master's degree
