Ukraine and European Neighbours: History and Modernity (for foreigners)
This certificate program is designed to provide a foreign (English-speaking) audience with general knowledge about Ukraine, including its political system, customs, traditions, historical milestones, and geographical features. The program combines this with a basic-level study of the Ukrainian language through three components: lexical, grammatical, and communicative, with a practical focus.
Target Audience:English-speaking individuals
Level of Education Required: basic secondary education
Programme objective - developing foreign students' knowledge about Ukraine, its main stages of history, geographical features, traditions and political system in the context of Europe; as well as basic language competences that will enable foreign students to meet communication needs in situations of daily communication related to everyday life, partly socio-cultural spheres of communication, enriching vocabulary, developing oral and written, monologue and dialogue speech, acquiring basic knowledge of practical grammar.
The programme consists of six thematic components:
- Country and people. European neighbours. National symbols;
- History. Kyivan Rus. Europe. Cossacks. Wars for independence;
- Geography, climate and environment;
- Identity. Family. Stereotypes. Religion. Urban/rural culture;
- Sightseeing in Ukraine;
- Economy and everyday life. Working life. Money: shopping. Life at war. Volunteering. Propaganda.
THE SCOPE OF THE PROGRAMME: 2 кредити ЄКТС (60 годин)

- Literature and Arts on war. Volunteering.
